Scholastic Series: Power Rankings

Week 1

After an impressive pre-season, the Lions have secured the #1 spot in Week 1 of the Scholastic Power Rankings. Their roster contains college level size with a majority of players ranging from 6’6-6’9. They are athletic and can push the tempo whenever needed. BJ Davis-Ray (2025) is the 83rd ranked player in the country, committed to SMU, and will be the main driver for the Lions success.

Week 2

JSerra continues to hold the #1 spot after playing some impressive competition in North Carolina. They battled with Ambassador Christian and Providence Day, who are both Top 10 teams in the state of NC. The Lions followed up with dominant wins over San Tan Charter and Mission Viejo. Brannon Martinsen (2025), Ryan Doane (2028), and Godschoice Eboigbodin (2026) have been huge contributors to the Lions success up to this point.

Week 3

While the Top 3 schools held their positions, we saw tons of movement in the 4-15 spots in OC basketball. JSerra remains dominant with plenty of wins over teams outside of Orange County. Mater Dei has gone through the OC gauntlet playing plenty of South County teams and coming out victorious. Santa Margarita has played a wide variety of teams and continues to rack up big wins. Outside of the Top 3, La Habra has jumped up to the 4th spot after rolling through tons of Orange County competition.

Week 4

JSerra closes out 2024 holding the #1 spot once again. Santa Margarita inches up to the #2 spot after impressive wins over some of the top teams in the state. Canyon has made an impressive jump, landing at the #3 spot, they have found their stride behind USD commit Brandon Benjamin (2025) who is in the running to earn the OC Player of the Year for the second time. Edison, Irvine and Fountain Valley have all earned their way into the Top 15 rankings after impressive wins over solid Orange County teams.

Week 5

Heading into the new year, Santa Margarita has secured the #1 spot. They have rolled through high level competition including a dominant win over the previous #1 team, JSerra. Kaiden Bailey (2026) and Dallas Washington (2025) are both 4-Star players who have helped push the Eagles to their success. Canyon has rolled through Orange County competition behind the help of Brandon Benjamin (2025) and Noah Kim (2025). Mater Dei continues to string together solid wins, helping them secure the #3 spot.

Week 6

The historic Mater Dei is back on top and has secured the #1 spot for this week. They have blown through the Trinity League up to this point behind 4-Star Luke Barnett (2026). JSerra continues to creep back, as they have been very impressive through Trinity League play. Los Alamitos has held their Top 5 position all season as they continue to rack up impressive wins behind Wesley Trevino (2025) and Trent Minter (2025).
