OC Girls Top 25 Coaches Poll 1/9

Mater Dei (15-2): Jenessa Cotton had 13 points with 13 rebounds in the Monarchs win over St. Vincent-St. Mary at the Chosen 1 Invitational at the Galen Center on Saturday. Caia Elisaldez added 10 points with 7 steals for Mater Dei.

Sage Hill (11-6): Freshman Amalia Holguin scored 26 points in the Lightning’s 66-58 win over Portola on Friday. Emily Eadie and Kat Righeimer both recorded double-doubles with 16pts/14reb and 14pts/12reb respectively. Sage Hill will face Mater Dei in the Matt Denning Hoops Classic on Saturday at 6pm at Mater Dei.

Rosary (15-4): In the Royals 59-55 over OLU on Saturday, Junior Allison Clarke hit 6 3’s on her way to scoring 30, Sophomore Mya Barnes had 13, and Ava Dominguez finished with 11. Rosary also defeated Village Christian 63-52 on Thursday in a game where Barnes had a double-double w/ 25pts/10reb, Domionguez scored 20 and Clarke finished w/ 16.

Sonora (17-2): The back-to-back Freeway League champs opened league play with wins over Buena Park and Fullerton. Junior Kiana Graham led the Raiders in their two wins, scoring 16 and 12, while Freshman Liana Hwang finished w/ 12 and 9 in both games. Larissa Robles is averaging 17.4ppg.

Crean Lutheran (10-8): After trailing 27-8 after the 1st quarter, the Saints rallied to a 60-54 win over Calvary Chapel on Tuesday. Sophomore Sydnee Norwood led the way with 19pts/5reb, Ashley Heyer had 15pts/7reb, and Lizzie Elder added 11pts/5reb. 

Fairmont Prep (9-10): The Huskies tough schedule is beginning to pay off as they defeated La Costa Canyon 56-46 on Wednesday and St. Anthony 66-55 at the Northview Showcase on Saturday.

Buena Park (13-4): After dropping their Freeway League opener at Sonora, the youthful Coyotes bounced back with a 51-32 win over Troy. Buena Park was led by their trio of talented freshmen. Alana White finished with 15 points, Sydney Lendsey added 14 and Bella Harmon finished with 13.

Orangewood Academy (13-3): Sophomore Maria Mejia led the Spartans with 12 points in their 43-37 win over Claremont on Saturday at the Northview Showcase.

Woodbridge (12-6): The Warriors defeated Northwood 44-35. Junior Teagan Burrus led the way with 17.
